New Delhi, November 19 The peasant movement for the last one year over agricultural laws is now coming to an end. Yes, the farmers who were agitating on the occasion of Guru Parva on Friday had a big victory as the Union government has decided to withdraw the controversial agriculture laws. Addressing the nation at 9 am today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the repeal of agricultural laws. Following this decision, reactions are also coming from the Congress which is supporting the farmers in this agitation.

What cannot be achieved through democratic opposition can be achieved through fear of the forthcoming elections. The Prime Minister’s announcement to repeal the three agriculture laws is not motivated by a change of policy or a change of heart. It is driven by fear of elections. Anyway, this is a great victory for the farmers and for the Congress party which has remained steadfast in its opposition to the agricultural laws.

Apart from P Chidambaram, many other opposition leaders and peasant supporters are making similar claims.
