‘Conspiracy against farmers and workers defeated’

Reacting to the decision to withdraw the agricultural laws, Sonia Gandhi said, “Today, the sacrifices of more than 700 farming families who lost their lives in this struggle for justice have come to fruition. Today, truth, justice and non-violence have prevailed. Those who conspired against the peasants and workers in power have lost their lives today. Today the pride of the dictatorial people has also been defeated.

In her statement, Sonia Gandhi said, “Today, the conspiracy to attack the livelihood and agriculture of the people has failed. Today, the country’s food donor has won. Any decision within a democracy must be taken in consultation with the opposition and everyone involved in that decision in one form or another. I hope the Narendra Modi government at the Center will learn a lesson from this for the future.

At the same time, after the decision to repeal the agriculture laws, Indian Farmers Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said that the agitation would continue. Rakesh Tikait said, “Where are the agriculture laws now repealed, where are the revocation papers. Our agitation will continue till the agriculture laws are repealed in Parliament and other issues of the farmers including the guarantee of MSP are resolved. If the laws are repealed, we will also go back to our homes.
